Stefano did his first competition less than one month after he started climbing, and he placed 2^nd in a youth regional cup. The next year he won the Youth Italian Champion and in few years he joined the Youth Italian National Team, doing several podiums in the Youth World Championship and European Cup of category. In 2009 he took part for the first time in a Senior World Cup competition, where he placed 58^th (not a great start!), the next year he did his first World Cup Semifinal and in 2011 his first World Cup Final. The first podium arrived in 2012, and two years later, his first victory (Wujiang, China). He chased the overall title and was very close in 2017 and 2018 with a second place in the Overall Lead World Cup, and he finally won the Title in 2021, bringing home the Lead World Cup 2021.
